BIOGRAPHY

 Martín Rodríguez (Caracas, Venezuela,1992)

is a saxophonist and educator based in Barcelona, Spain, whose work moves fluidly between jazz, contemporary music, and popular styles. He began his musical training at the age of eight studying clarinet at Colegio Emil Friedman, later switching to saxophone during a formative year in Canada, where he first encountered jazz and developed a lasting connection to the music.

After continuing his studies in Venezuela, Martín was awarded a scholarship at the Barquisimeto International Jazz Festival to attend the Malaga International Jazz Workshop, where he studied with Aaron Goldberg, Reuben Rogers, Jeff Ballard, Ben Monder, and Chris Cheek. He later joined the Venezuela Big Band Jazz, remaining active in Caracas’ jazz scene.

Since then, Martín has performed and recorded with a wide range of artists and groups across jazz, rock, and Latin music, including Phil Manzanera (Roxy Music), Desorden Público, La Vida Bohème (Latin Grammy winners), Fauna Crepuscular, Luz Verde, Onechot, Alma de Boquerón, Víctor Muñoz, and the Gian Faraone Big Band, while also working internationally as a member of the Cunard Line theatre orchestra.

In 2017, he moved to Barcelona to complete a Bachelor’s degree in Jazz Saxophone Performance at the Liceu Conservatory, including a semester at the Malmö Academy of Music in Sweden. Alongside his musical training, Martín also holds a degree in Mass Media Studies, a background that informs his work as a performer, educator, and collaborator across diverse artistic contexts. He is currently active as a performer and teacher in Barcelona.
